New Music Alert : Black Olive – "Salty Bite"

It’s been a couple of days since I first got my dirty paws on this track, by Los Angeleros James Combs and Kelly De Martino (a.k.a. Black Olive) and I’m wishing i had a whole pile of music of theirs to dig thru. “Tommy likee, Tommy want winggy”. Or, yeah, something to that effect. Anyway, so I’m poking and prodding around something they apparently call the ‘internets’ for some informayshawn regarding Black Olive and, nothing. Well, very little, at best. So, somebody out there, do us a fLavor; crank up the keyboard and start putting those high school typing classes to good use and create these poor Black Olive kids a Wiki page or something for crying out loud.

In the bands defense, they do have a MySpace page , with a bunch of great songs. Head over there sometime and listen to their music. We’re talking under 500 plays on MySpace, This is a small band but , imh(EMCD)o, “Salty Bite” just might the song that gets a group recognized.

If “Salty Bite” were a meal it might have several ingredients. I’m thinking a little bit of the simplicity of PB&J’s “Young Folks” (without the headache and nausea, of course) mixed in with a smidgen of something reminiscent of The Roots’ “Break You Off” finished off with a dollop of I’m From Barcelona. Maybe something else? You tell me.
