Too Drunk To Dream

…ain’t no drinking when the bottle’s dry…

Garcia, Weir, and Los Lobos jammin on some Guthrie

This is a weird little tidbit of music that I’ve been hoarding for a couple of years. I thought I’d share it, because, well, I’m on a bit of a “Dead” streak, and what good is music if you can’t share it with people who love, and live, music, right???

The Grateful Dead rolled into Foxboro, Mass on July 2nd, 1989 to start the ’89 Summer Tour. Big album, big plans, and a big tour were the foreshadowing of what was to become one of the most exciting tours in the latter part of Dead history. This little nugget of music came to me in a trade a while back, and the only info that I have on this recording is that it was filmed for Fourth of July broadcast on “Nightline with Ted Koppel”. What I didn’t know until now, is that the footage of this broadcast is now available on YouTube… isn’t technology effin’ amazing… It’s nice to hear a couple of takes, a couple of fuck-ups, a few diversions, and then to be able to see the finished product! Enjoy…
